This is tricky to answer until we have spoken! Number of sessions needed will be entirely driven by your circumstances and what you feel ready and able to commit to at this time. I do not consider any need too big or too small, but please consider whether you are ready to commit for as long as it may take to feel results.
Regular review sessions form a core part of my therapeutic work, to ensure you feel you are getting the most from sessions and for us to check-in on whether we are making progress towards your goals.
Whilst I understand that having a diagnosis can offer validation and understanding, I do not typically work in a diagnostic manner. I prefer to use a formulation based approach - considering your currently difficulty in the context of what you have been through in life, and the ways that you have learnt to cope.
Unlike Psychiatrists, who are medically trained and licensed to prescribe medication, Psychologists are unable to provide prescriptions.
Similarly, Psychologists are not among the healthcare professionals who can certify fit notes in the U.K. This can only be carried out by Medical Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists and Physiotherapists.
